Recenty we found an article someone has writen mentioning the Crown of Crucis.  It’s called Costwolds luxury hotels and you can find it by clicking here - “Cotswolds Luxury Hotels“ .

B&B in the Cotswolds at The Crown of Crucis, one of the Luxury Cotswolds Hotels.   A warm welcome will await you at all times of year whether you are there for one night or for a Cotswolds Holiday.

The Crown is a 16th Century inn which has held on to its charm, largely thanks being with the same owners for 20 years.  All of the modern conveniences have been added though!

All of their comfortable bedrooms are invitingly furnished in an elegant country house style.  All 25 en-suite rooms have full facilities with bath and shower and standard twin or double beds and surround the continental style courtyard and many overlook the stream and cricket pitch.

The b&b Cotswold Crown of Crucis is found in a beautiful village setting in the South Cotswolds near to Cirencester.  For the History buffs among you this used to be know as Corinium in Roman times, so as you can imagine, there is plenty of history in the area.

To b&b in the Cotswolds is to experience the natural beauty of the area.  The area is famous for its honey coloured stone which has been used to make most of the building ins the area.

There are many places to visit, the Crown of Crucis hotel is only a few minutes away from the Cotswolds water park, and you can easily reach places like Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Campden.

The hotel makes a great Cotswold b&b being situated a mere 15 minutes from the motorways, and yet is in a beautifully peaceful setting, where you can hear the Ampney Brook and perhaps some birdsong – and not much else.

Cotswolds bed and breakfast accomodations are plentiful because it is such a tourist area.  Finding the right one is difficult as like anything else standards vary.  So its good to get some ideas before you start your Cotswolds holiday.

A Cotswold B&B should live up to the expectation created by the beautiful surroundings of the Cotswolds.   You have fantastic place like Chipping Campden, Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wolds.  All of these quaint little places are there to be explored while you relax from your chosen accomodation.

There are many fine bed and breakfast accommodations in the Cotswolds, many run by people in their own home.  This gives a you a close familiar experience but can be rather too intimate for some, and these small b&bs are limited to the services they can offer.  Even car parking can be a hassle which you don’t need on holiday.

That’s why many travellers on a Cotswolds holiday or weekend break will book one of the superb country house hotels such as the historic Crown of Crucis Hotel, situated near Cirencester with lots of history, fantastic restaurant and old beams in the bar, the Rectory Hotel, Cotswold Country House Hotel and the Four Pillars are all the sort of places that add to your break.

All in all of course, you want your Cotswold b&b to provide a good base to explore from but also to relax in if you so choose – a perfect holiday means different things to different people and of course – your mood can change once you are there, so it’s good to be free to change your mind with a bar on offer with traditional Cotswold pub food available if that’s what takes your fancy, or a fine dining restaurant if you want to treat yourself.  Relax in the lounge, or bar, or your room – you decide – it’s all on offer.

The delights of a Cotswolds short break are many and varied including beautiful scenic and quiet countryside, honey-coloured mellow stone buildings, Royal Residences and 1,000 year old cathedrals and churches.

The wide range of Cotswolds country house style ensuite bedrooms at The Crown of Crucis, cater for every need, from a short break in the Cotswolds, to one night passing through the Cotswolds area. Pets are welcome. They offer a wide variety of dining options. Choose from their Crucis Bar menu or opt for fine dining in the Crucis Restaurant or eat al fresco on the riverbank in the grounds overlooking the sweet meadows beyond. All of their food is freshly prepared and sourced locally where possible.

Rolling hills and idyllic villages define the Cotswolds, an easy day trip from London. Hire a car for leisurely visits to English towns with fairy-tale names like Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. You’ll also find thatched cottages, twisting footpaths and historic landmarks like Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

The spa town of Cheltenham, with its Regency architecture, makes a good base for exploring. Cotswold Water Park nearby offers a truly diverse range of Cotswolds outdoor activities from exhilarating water sports such as sailing and water skiing to more gentle activities such as cycling and horse riding. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, our English country hotel provides the ideal base to explore the many local attractions and things to do in the Cotswolds.

If you fancy something a little bit different, come along to one of our popular seasonal breaks for that special occasion. You can book a romantic summer weekend in the Cotswolds with their special offers. Here are some strange things and curiosities that if you get the chance to witness at firsthand whilst on your short break will give you something to remember and talk about for an eternity.

Ancient tree Clypping ceremony in the Cotswold town of Painswick at the Parish Church on or after Feast Sunday, 19th September. The church yard is famous for its 99 yew trees and the many attempts to grow the hundredth have never succeeded. The ‘Clypping’ comes from the Saxon word ‘ycleping’ meaning ‘embracing’ and the ceremony involves local children carrying nosegays (a small bunch of flowers, posy) and joining hands around the church to form an unbroken chain, while singing the Clypping Hymn as part of an open-air service.

Cheese Rolling in various places, the most famous being at Cooper’s Hill, Brockworth, which is just off the A46 Cheltenham to Stroud road. Originally held at Midsummer in June.   Competitors sit on the edge of a steep slope, waiting for the guest roller to release a 7lb Double Gloucester cheese on the count of the Master of Ceremonies. They then race down the hill chasing after it - the first person down the hill wins it. The hill in parts approaches a one-in-one gradient guaranteeing a ‘topsy-turvy’ descent. Whatever you decide, I believe the Crown of Crucis Luxury Cotswolds Hotel offers the ideal base for your Cotswolds Leisure Break.

Ever been to the Cotswolds?   Its a beauftiful place and I recommend it, but a search on the Internet for Cotswolds luxury hotels reveals a dazzling choice of hotels, inns and b&bs to choose from.  It is difficult to know where to stay if you are looking for that special place to stay where you get what you want from your stay.

The Cotswolds offer not only luxury hotels, but luxurious scenery and plenty of fresh air and places to explore.  The Cotswolds has many small villages such as Burford and Castle Combe and whilst they are all different, they are all built from the same limestone keeping them all as attractive as each other.   The Cotswolds really do make the perfect place for a weekend break in a luxury hotel.

If you are interested in visiting the area then you are going for the scenery, and I can guess at what your idea of a Cotswolds luxury hotel is.  Picture the scene.   You travel by car and have all the stress of the traffic, but it eases as you near your hotel and you can start to relax.

You pull into the car park – plenty of room there, and go to check in.  You are dealt with promptly, but politely and friendly.   You are shown to your elegant country house style room and your shoulders start to drop.  A quick check of the view reveals open space, perhaps a stream and gentle bird song.  This hotel offers real luxury alright.

After freshening up its time for dinner in the restaurant.  The ambience is informal and friendly – and the food is to die for.  After all, the hotel has won awards, with a dedicated team of chefs determined to offer only the freshest, tastiest seasonal food.

As you relax in the bar with your favourite tipple, perhaps in front of a log fire if it’s winter, or perhaps when there’s a nip in the air, you almost feel like you’re in another world, and you decide to try one of the bar meals the next day, if there’s room after a full breakfast that morning of course.
